Architecture

The architect Mick Pearce inspired from the termite mound structure to design the Eastgate Centre in Zimbabwe. Like termite mounds, the air conditioning - cooling and heating - of the Eastgate is entirely made with natural and free processes. The outside air is conveyed inside the building with multiple pipes and it is either heated or cooled by the building mass itself. The unique design of the building alloyed 3.5 million dollars in energy savings.
